I have made it a goal to expand my business model—to make the equivalent income in online content creation/sales as would be the case for “average” in-person companionship work (FSSW). Anyone who’s tried to do both will tell you: this. is. difficult.
In-person work is not a “selling,” it’s an offering. We say (and mean), “This is who I am, this is how I show up, and I want us to be in this experience together for a specific amount of time.” We make $10k+ because we’re showing up authentically, holding space for someone, and co-creating a meaningful and/or intimate experience.
Online content creation is nearly the complete opposite. It’s a grind. It’s selling and hustle, masquerading as an offering. It’s performance, not presence. It’s, “Hey baby lemme get u in the mood 💦 ur so hot! Unlock for $10.”
The authenticity that makes in-person work meaningful is almost a detriment to being successful in content creation; a prime example of the post-industrial, postmodern critique of life marked by loss of meaning, fragmentation of experience, and commodification of…well, everything. In-person work requires a good “fit” with fewer people, whereas maintaining meaningful profitability in content creation requires a sort of depersonalization that appeals to a broader audience. And the parts of me that make my real-life connection so powerful—things like depth, honesty, soul—just don’t translate well to algorithms and sales funnels.
But the reality is, there is no comparison between in-person work & content creation in terms of scalability. Strictly from a fiscal sustainability perspective, the scalable model—content creation—undeniably makes more sense long-term, even compared to someone making $10k+/weekend doing in-person work, if their reach is wide enough and appealing enough to the broader audience. More clicks, more purchases. More subscriptions, more profit. This is how “influencers” and “online models” are making millions, while even the most “elite” companions are not.
Navigating that trade-off as someone who values depth, connection, and presence is really challenging me. I have committed to myself 30 days of going all-in, as best I can, to building something fiscally and emotionally viable in the online content creation space. I’m on day 5. There are some moments I feel like giving up, and others when I try something new and think, “This isn’t so bad. I can do this.”
I did an hour-long video livestream last night on Fanfix, the platform that recently acquired Sunroom, which essentially amounted to an adult webcam session, pushing the limits on the platform’s “no nudity” guidelines while engaging sometimes complimentary, sometimes funny, and sometimes annoying or off-putting comments and requests by viewers to do this-or-that. Part of me had fun doing it, which was surprising, and another part of me wondered, “How long until I burn out on these superficial interactions?”
As I sit here this morning, part of me feels motivated to “crack the code” and figure out how to do this online content creation thing well, and the other part of me worries about losing my soul in the process. I don’t think the latter is inevitable, but I do know that I will need the ongoing support of my “type” of people in the online realm if there’s going to be any chance of me avoiding that.
So, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include a call to action to support me in this endeavor. I hate doing that; I’m not a salesperson. But I am someone who is trying to stay grounded and could really use the support of people who are in my corner—people who appreciate the personal behind the pixels, regardless of whether I’m wearing a $500 lingerie set from Honey Birdette or a $10 scrappy webcam outfit from Temu—while I try to figure it out. Here are the places to do that, if you feel so inclined:
- 🔗Fanfix – My main “home.” This is where I share the most of myself–videos, photos, livestreams. It’s a mix of mindful/thoughtful/behind-the-scenes and erotic (no explicit nudity).
- 🔗 Onlyfans (free) – The spicier side. If you’re interested in NSFW content, this is where to find it.
- 🔗 Twitter – My unfiltered voice as quick thoughts, peppered with the occasional thirst trap photo for engagement.
- 🔗 Instagram – Similar to Twitter, in Reels format.
Every follow, subscription, purchase, signal boost, and bit of encouragement helps! I appreciate you being on this journey with me. “I contain multitudes” (Walt Whitman), so let’s see what’s possible, right?
Xo,
Andra
